Key Nutrients in Potatoes

To prepare a 400 L nutrient solution for a potato crop, start by dissolving nutrients in 100 L of water for the first few days, creating a 50% strength solution. After the second week, add water to reach a final volume of 400 L for full-strength solution. Since Ca superphosphate is not soluble in water, it requires a small amount of water initially to dissolve fully. Table 3 provides the complete information on the nutrient concentrations. If toxic symptoms appear on the leaves, replace the solution more frequently to prevent plant incompatibility. The pH of the solution should be checked regularly and maintained between 5.5 and 6 for optimal nutrient availability. If the pH exceeds 7.3, dilute phosphoric or sulfuric acid can be used to lower it
